| Note: My expertise in web development is in designing and
assessing sites for usability. I also design and develop sites using tools
such as DreamWeaver and FrontPage. I can write HTML, use style sheets, and
use some JavaScript. I am not an ASP developer, server administrator, or
Flash developer. Work included designing and developing Web and intranet
sites, conducting needs assessments, conducting usability assessments.

- Children's Hospital. Conducted an assessment of one of the web
sites and prepared an exhaustive report on needed improvements. Next phase
will be to redesign the site.
- Premera Blue Cross. Created a training/user manual designed for
usability. Created a list of usability recommendations for the software
and suggested a few changes to the UI where appropriate.
- Art Jewelry Network. Designed and created Yahoo shopping site
selling unique pieces of jewelry.

- Alternet Technologies. Assessed the UI of a site they were
developing for a customer. Made a number of suggestions, many of which
were implemented.
- Apex Learning. Created web-based help system designed for
accessibility (to meet guidelines for educational materials) and usability
on a variety of hardware, operating systems, and web browsers.
- V****. Developed involved intranet to maintain system
documentation and track changes in the UI. Simulated the product's UI.
Worked with the software designers on usability issues in the interface of
the products. Made suggestions for improvements, tracked UI problems, and
collaborated with the development team on improving overall usability of
the software.
- The Cat’s Pajamas. Designed and developed a new web site for

- Whatlow-Group ME Commerce. Designed the UI for their touchpanel
application. Designed and developed the company website.

- Have developed web sites for a number of artists and for other
personal projects.

- Led design meetings with leaders of Trillium Corporation to
design. Goals of the meetings were to educate some of them about the
benefits of what a web site could do for the company, look at the issues
they had, and develop an overall organization and navigation for the site.
1996 to 1999, Solution Director and Practice Leader, Whittman-Hart,
Inc., Milwaukee, Wisconsin (now out of business)
- As a Solution Director for Whittman-Hart I managed a team of 22
instructional designers, trainers, and writers. In this group was a
sub-set of about 10 technical writers who focused on web-site development.
- Created an approach, including a lengthy checklist, for assessing web
site usability in a logical and organized fashion.
- Created a generic style guide for web sites that could be easily
adapted to the needs of individual customers and projects.
- Conducted user interviews and designed framework for an intranet for
Kohler Corporation. Designed specific section of the intranet for
the golf courses.
- Conducted an in-depth analysis of a website for Johnson Wax.
This site had international customers.
- Worked with Lotus Notes developers to create a Lotus Notes-based
website that used Domino to access a product database.
1990 to 1996. Documentation Manager, Compuware Corporation, Milwaukee,

- Designed and created my first extensive website for the Milwaukee
Circus Parade.
