| Sally (Sarah C.) Yeo is the owner and principal consultant
for Usable Webs. She has been a technical writer for over twenty years,
producing a wide variety of documentation from white papers to end-user
documentation.
Sally has co-authored two books published by Wiley & Sons. They
are Guidelines for Enterprise-Wide GUI Design, and GUI Design Essentials.
She wrote an article on Web usability published in the Intercom in
1996. In addition, she wrote "Project Management for Technical Writers"
which is used internally at the Milwaukee, WI branches of Compuware. It was
also used at Whittman-Hart, which is now out of business.
She has presented workshops at the Society for Technical Communication international
conventions for eight years and she has spoken at various local organizations and trade
conventions. She has trained customer classes in project management, Web usability, and
the use of various Web authoring tools. Sally has won awards for publications submitted to
publications competitions.
Sally was the Manager of Technical Documentation at the Milwaukee WI branch of
Compuware Corporation for six and a half years. Then she accepted a position in the
Milwaukee branch of Whittman-Hart where she was the Solution Director for Interactive
Services. Sally then moved to Washington where she accepted a position with Elucidex as Documentation Manager. She is now an independent consultant.
She served on the Web Certificate Advisory Board for Marquette University and the Technical Writing Program Advisory Board for Milwaukee School of Engineering.
She received an M.A.T. from Reed College in English and a B.A. from Lewis
and Clark College: major—English, minor—French.
