Rubaiyat Frontispiece

This image begins the book. Like all the other images, Adelaide Hanscom worked the dry-plate negative extensively. She worked directly on the glass with airbrushes and other tools to create the drapery, backgrounds, and other effects she desired.

She created individual borders for the first and last images, and for all the pages presenting the poetry. Each border is unique and hand-executed.

The artist is one of her friends from the San Francisco bay area art colony, probably xxx.
